Our two
charities, the Atlantic Beach Volunteer Fire Department and the Carteret
County Sportfishing Association receive all the proceeds from this
tournament. The Atlantic Beach Fire Department uses the funds to
purchase state-of-the-art fire and EMS equipment that allows them to
provide better service to the community and our visitors. The Carteret
County Sportfishing Association uses its funds for their Artificial Reef Program thus ensuring a solid future for sportfishing. |

Where have the
years gone? It’s just hard to believe that the “Granddaddy of King
Mackerel Tournaments”is about to celebrate its’ 30th Birthday! We’d
like to thank all of the sponsors, anglers and volunteers that have made
this tournament possible and particularly for the contributions you have
enabled us to make to our charities. We want everyone to have a great
time and join us for some good old-fashioned Southern hospitality. The
Atlantic Beach King Mackerel Tournament was started in 1979 by four
Atlantic Beach volunteer firemen looking for a way to secure funding for
much needed fire and rescue equipment. That vision became a reality far
exceeding any of the original firefighters’ dreams and earning the event
the reputation of being one of the largest all-cash tournaments on the
East Coast. The overwhelming success of this annual contest led
organizers to adopt a second charity, the Carteret County Sportfishing
Associations’ Artificial Reef Fund, thus protecting and ensuring our
fisheries for many generations to come. Again all of this has been made
possible by a lot of hard work and continued support from our sponsors
and participants. Thank you again and best of luck for a safe and
enjoyable tournament. |
